A nuanced claim is one that is individualized, specific and narrow. When our students make a claim, it should be as individualized as their fingerprints. How is the writer making a claim that is specific to his or her own thinking? The College Ready Writers Program takes us beyond having 25 students with the same claim. The process of layering the text and the writing help students develop their own thinking in individualized and specific ways.
